CCTV IR cameras with DVR
CORPS has found that for doing large investigations at businesses and large residences, a surveillance camera system or CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) equipped with a digital video recorder works best.
Typical surveillance systems use an IR sensative camera to capture video in very low light. These cameras can be setup in multiple rooms and broadcast their video either over a wire or wireless connection. The DVR system is them able to record multiple sources of video to it's local harddrive. The video can then be archived to an external harddrive or other device for later review.
CORPS uses a 4 camera system with DVR and flat panel monitor so video can be reviewed in real-time during an investigation. These systems can range from $800 to several thousand dollars depending on the amount of cameras it can support and harddrive size.
Other available systems can be connected directly to a laptop or desktop computer as their DVR device. These systems usually require an interface card that can tune to the wireless broadcast from the cameras or have a wired connection from each of the cameras in the system.
