Hand-held Video Camera
Camcorders are by far one of the best tools in the CORPS arsenal. Video captured on a camcorder is probably the most convincing evidence.
However since most paranormal phenomena occur after dark, it can be difficult for standard camcorders to capture anything. Most camcorders capture only visible light. However, there are certain camcorders that have the ability to capture video in the infrared spectrum. Effectively this is night-vision technology.
Night vision video is only able to be captured by cameras that are equiped to view the infrared spectrum. Sony is the most well-known of these brands and has equiped most, if not all, of their modern camcorders with the "Nightshot" feature allowing it to record the light in the IR specturm to miniDV or harddrives attached to the camera. There are other brands that also include this feature but CORPS has found that the Sony brand is the most widely available.
If you plan to record long sessions of IR video, we recommend purchasing a harddrive equiped model because their recording time is much longer than that of miniDV.
These camcorders can run anywhere between $60 to several thousand dollars. If you are planning on purchasing one for paranormal investigations, we recommend you search eBay and look for models that are used but it good condition. We've seen perfectly good miniDV based camcorders for as litte as $60 and they work as well as a brand new one for a fraction of the price.
